Explosion at Ctg Court: JMB’s ‘Boma Mizan’ gets death, another life term
Yesterday, a Chattogram court sentenced Mizan, alias "Boma Mizan", an explosives expert and JMB leader to death, and another militant to a life sentence in prison in a case over the deaths of two people including a police constable in a bomb attack at Chattogram court premises in November 2005.
Jabed Iqbal, Ctg JMB's Divisional Commander, was also given a life term. In default, he will be sentenced to two years in prison, stated Advocate Monoranjan Das.
In addition, the court released JMB chief Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai, Ataur Rahman Sai from all charges.
Executed in another case
While Mizan is still at large, Abdul Halim of Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal of chattogram delivered his verdict.
One Shahauddin from Sitakunda upazila was killed, and Rajib Barura, a constable, was injured in a suicide bombing attack on the police check point at the court building premises.
Two cases were filed at Kotwali Police Station following the attack -- one was a murder case and another was filed under the Explosives Act.
Hla Ching Pru was the former Inspector of Detectives for Chittagong Metropolitan Police. He is now an additional superintendent of police.

Later, a Chattogram court framed charges against militants on April 16, 2007, in the case.
Mizan is currently in Indian prison after being sentenced by a Kolkata special court to 29 years imprisonment for an explosion at a West Bengal house in Burdwan in Oct 2014.
